I.D.E.A. at MAPAS

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access

At MAPAS, everyone belongs.

We feel passionately that Music and Performing Arts should be available to everyone, and we work hard to ensure that everyone who accesses our services feels confident to be their authentic self. Read more about what I.D.E.A. means to us below

Inclusion

Everyone is welcome at MAPAS

We engage with, and value, everyone's skills, ideas and viewpoints. We work hard to understand the needs of our customers and overcome any barriers they face to make sure they feel included.

Diversity

We value each other's differences

Salford has a rich blend of cultures and communities and our service aims to reflect the communities we work in. We do not tolerate discrimination in any form, instead we aim to celebrate different cultures in the music that we teach.

Equity

We want to allow everyone to reach their potential

We recognise that we don't all start from the same place and we aim to make adjustments to address any imbalances, seeking to support those who need it most.
We partner with a range of organisations who can offer financial support towards the cost of lessons and other activities.
We are proud to continue to offer the FREE loan of instruments to our learners.

Access

We strive to offer our service where it is needed

Salford is spread geographically over 20 wards of differing sizes and demographics. We are working to improve access to our service, listening to communities to better understand what local people need from us so that we can serve the needs of our communities.
LGBT+ Inclusion

LGBT+ Inclusion

We are pleased to announce that MAPAS is now an official recipient of the Rainbow Flag Award, a nationally recognized kitemark and we can proudly state that our service is welcoming and inclusive to people from the LGBT+ community.
